Mark Kadin
Mark Kadin is Music Director of the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra. He was previously Music Director of the Krasnoyarsk Symphony Orchestra from 2004-2014, Associate Conductor of the Russian National Orchestra from 1996-2004 and of the Moscow Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra from 1999-2004. Mark Kadin has maintained a regular relationship with many orchestras in Russia, Europe, Asia, South America and Australia and has worked with top artists such as Dmitry Khvorostovsky, Maxim Vengerov, Vadim Repin, Mikhail Pletnev, Viktor Tretyakov, Boris Berezovsky, Nikolay Lugansky, Denis Matsuev, Kristof Barati, Sumi Jo, Hibla Gerzmava and many others.
His debut with the Bulgarian National Radio Symphony Orchestra took place twenty years ago. There was a kind of «chemistry» between the musicians and the conductor from the very first rehearsals, which led to regular cooperation. He took the lead at the BNR SO in 2017 and his inaugural concert was perceived as very inspiring: «The opening was a triumph - the concert hall was full and among the audience there were the President of Bulgaria and famous politicians» (Kultura - Bulgaria).
From his first season Mark Kadin set out new directions for the orchestra's further development, by stepping up efforts to attract new listeners and introducing new program concepts, a global plan for recordings and digital activity. He combines repertoire hits and rarely performed masterpieces, works by contemporary classics and Bulgarian premieres. During his collaboration with the orchestra his innovative ideas, glittering interpretations, creative energy and endeavours to expand the audience were highly praised and rewarded by Bulgarian culture and media institutions.
Mark Kadin's concerts with the BNR Symphony Orchestra are regularly broadcast on Deutschlandfunk Kultur, Swedish and Danish Radio, Portuguese National and Spanish National Radio, Musiq 3 (Belgium) and BBC. In 2018 Mark and the BNR SO performed for the first time at the prestigious World Orchestra Series in South Korea. Apart from Sofia's concert season the BNR SO has been a regular visitor to the prestigious Bulgarian festivals Varna Summer and March Music Days in Ruse.
